An epidemiological survey on the hospitalized patients of ageing disease

Abstract
|
|
|
One thousand and three hospitalized patients in dept. of internal medicine, Chonnam University Hospital were subjected to epidemiological survey on the aging disease from Jan. 1, 1979 to Dec. 31. 1979. The results were obtained as follows.
1. Hospitalized aging disease patients were 34.4% (male; 65.0%, female; 35.0%), and average length of hospital stay were 15.3 days (male; 13.5 day, female; 15.0 day).
2. The distribution of hospitalized aging disease patients were as follows.
A) Cancer 29.7% Hypertension 9.7
Liver cirrhosis 18.7% Heart disease 8.9% Cerebro vascular disease 17.4% Chronic nephritis 4.2% Diabetes mellitus 11.4%
B) for Medical insurance 29.5% for Medical aid 3.3%
C) died in hospital 2.7% poor prognosis 45.9
D) residents of city area 46.2% residents of county area 53.8%
3. Rate of hospitalization was 38.4% in male and 28.9% in female, and it was higher in 60 years and over age groups (54.9%) than other age groups.
